The short version. Use Trace Finance to track your own spending. Don't upload someone else's statement without their permission. Don't try to break the service. Pay your subscription if you're on Pro. We can update the service, but we'll give you notice. Either side can cancel any time.
1. The agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Trace Finance ("Trace Finance", "we", "us"), operating under the laws of the Republic of Ghana. By creating an account, uploading a statement, or otherwise using Trace Finance, you accept these Terms in full.
If you don't agree with any part of these Terms, don't use Trace Finance.
2. Who can use Trace Finance
You can use Trace Finance if:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a contract under Ghanaian law.
- You are not barred from using the service under any applicable sanctions or laws.
- You are using it for personal financial tracking — not to scrape, resell, or aggregate other people's data.
3. Your account
You sign in with your phone number and email using a one-time password. You are responsible for keeping your phone and email secure and for any activity on your account. Notify us immediately at security@tracefinance.app if you suspect your account has been accessed without permission.
One person, one account. Don't share login credentials, sell access, or transfer your account to anyone else.
4. What you can do with Trace Finance
You may:
- Upload your own bank and mobile-money statements to extract transactions.
- View, edit, categorise, and export your own financial data.
- Use the AI assistant (Pro) to ask questions in plain English.
- Cancel your subscription, delete your data, or close your account at any time.
5. What you can't do
You agree not to:
- Upload statements that don't belong to you, unless you have explicit written permission from the account holder.
- Use the service to commit fraud, launder money, evade tax, or break any law.
- Attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, or security measures.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or scrape the service.
- Use bots, crawlers, or automated tools to access the service except via our official API (when available).
- Resell, white-label, or commercialise the service without a written commercial agreement.
- Upload malicious files, viruses, or anything designed to disrupt the service.
- Use the AI assistant to generate harmful, illegal, or misleading content.
6. Your data — who owns what
You own your data. The transactions, categories, and any content you upload remain your property. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, and display your data only to provide the service to you.
We don't claim ownership of your statements or transactions. We don't sell or share them with advertisers. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
7. Our intellectual property
The Trace Finance brand, software, designs, and content are owned by Trace Finance. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them while your account is active. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without permission.
8. Plans, pricing & payment
Pro plans
Trace Finance Pro is offered in three tiers, all unlocking the same features (AI chat, unlimited PDF uploads, AI auto-categorisation, spending insights, and priority support):
- Monthly — GHS 25 per month, billed monthly.
- Quarterly — GHS 60 every 3 months (effective GHS 20 / month, save 20%).
- Annual — GHS 180 per year (effective GHS 15 / month, save 40%).
Subscriptions are billed in advance through Paystack. Prices are in Ghanaian Cedi (GHS) and inclusive of any applicable VAT. Signing up for Trace Finance itself is free; you only pay if you choose to subscribe to Pro.
Renewals & cancellation
- Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period.
- You can cancel any time from Settings → Subscription. Your access continues until the end of the period you've paid for.
- We don't offer pro-rata refunds for partial months. If you believe you were charged in error, email billing@tracefinance.app.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. If we do, we'll give existing Pro users at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies on your next billing date after the notice period.
9. AI features (Pro)
The AI assistant generates answers based on your transaction data. We make no guarantee that AI-generated answers are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular financial decision. Don't rely on the AI for tax, investment, or legal advice — consult a qualified professional.
10. Statement parsing — best effort
Trace Finance reads PDF statements using automated parsers and AI. While we work hard to read every statement correctly, parsing is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate, especially for unusual layouts, scanned PDFs, or statements from providers we haven't yet added.
Always verify the extracted numbers against your original statement before relying on them for tax, accounting, or any official purpose. Trace Finance is a personal finance tool — not a substitute for your bank's statements or a certified accountant.
11. Termination
You can leave any time. Delete your data and close your account from Settings → Data & Privacy. We'll erase your transactions, statements, and account record within 30 days.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, abuse the service, or use it for unlawful activity. We'll give you reasonable notice and a chance to remedy unless the breach is serious or ongoing.
If we shut down Trace Finance entirely, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice by email and provide a way to export your data.
12. Service "as is"
Trace Finance is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent allowed by Ghanaian law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise the service will always be available, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Trace Finance is not liable for any:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity.
- Damages exceeding the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) GHS 500.
This limitation applies even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Trace Finance harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. By continuing to use Trace Finance after the change, you accept the new Terms. If you disagree, stop using the service and delete your account.
16. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Trace Finance will be resolved in the courts of Ghana.

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect. Failure to enforce any right doesn't waive that right. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Trace Finance — they replace any earlier statement or promise about the service.
